Over 50 Years. One Family. One Legacy. The Birmingham Jewelry Story
What started with survival became a family legacy.
In 1975, Gregory Pilibosian opened the doors to Birmingham Jewelry with a vision, a passion for his craft, and a determination shaped by a family history of perseverance.
What began more than 50 years ago has grown into something far greater than a jewelry store. It has become a family legacy, carried from one generation to the next and woven into the stories of countless families who have trusted Birmingham Jewelry with some of the most meaningful moments of their lives.
Today, that story continues.
A Legacy That Began in 1975
Birmingham Jewelry's story began in Birmingham, Michigan, where Gregory started his business in a modest second-floor space on North Old Woodward.
The beginning looked very different from the Birmingham Jewelry of today. There was no expansive showroom or nationwide reach. There was a young jeweler, his craft, and the determination to build something lasting.
But the story behind his determination began long before 1975.
Gregory's journey was shaped by the resilience of the generations who came before him and by an understanding that opportunity should never be taken for granted. Those values became part of the foundation upon which Birmingham Jewelry was built: work hard, master your craft, treat people with integrity, and create something worthy of being passed on.
More than five decades later, they remain at the heart of the company.
From One Generation to the Next
For Gregory's children, Birmingham Jewelry wasn't simply the family business. It was part of growing up.
They witnessed the relationships their father built with his customers and the care that went into every piece of jewelry that passed through his hands. They learned that being a jeweler isn't merely about diamonds, gemstones and precious metals.
It's about people.
It's about being trusted with an engagement ring before a proposal. Helping select wedding bands that will be worn for decades. Creating a piece to celebrate a new baby, an anniversary or an accomplishment. Restoring an heirloom so another generation can wear it.
Those lessons continue to shape Birmingham Jewelry today as the second generation carries the family business forward.
Vice President and Co-Owner Marina Pilibosian Bozabalian, a GIA Graduate Gemologist and American Gem Society Certified Gemologist, and Ishkhan Bozabalian, a GIA-trained jewelry designer and American Gem Society Registered Jeweler, bring both gemological expertise and modern jewelry technology to the business while preserving the principles upon which it was founded.
The next generation isn't simply maintaining Gregory's legacy. They're building upon it.
More Than 50 Years of Love Stories
Perhaps the greatest measure of Birmingham Jewelry's history isn't the number of years that have passed.
It's the generations of customers who have passed through its doors.
A couple comes in for an engagement ring. Years later, they return for an anniversary. Eventually, their children walk through the same doors looking for engagement rings of their own.
Those moments are what turn 50 years into a legacy.
Today, Birmingham Jewelry is Michigan's premier jewelry destination, home to Michigan's largest selection of engagement rings and an extraordinary selection of natural diamonds, lab-created diamonds, colored gemstones, wedding bands and fine jewelry.
Our custom jewelry capabilities combine traditional craftsmanship with today's advanced design technology, allowing our team to create pieces that begin as an idea and become something a family may treasure for generations.
And while our roots will always be in Michigan, Birmingham Jewelry now serves customers throughout the country.
The business has grown. The technology has changed. Jewelry styles have evolved.
The responsibility hasn't.
The Birmingham Jewelry Legacy Film
To commemorate more than 50 years, we wanted to tell the story in a way we never had before.
Not simply the story of a jewelry store.
The story of the people behind it.
The sacrifices that came before us. The man who started it. The family who grew up within it. The customers who became part of it. And the generation now responsible for carrying it forward.

This is our story.
But after more than 50 years, we've realized something:
It was never only ours.
Every engagement ring, anniversary gift, custom creation and family heirloom entrusted to Birmingham Jewelry has added another chapter.
To every person who has walked through our doors, trusted our family, recommended us to someone they love or allowed Birmingham Jewelry to become part of an important moment in their life:
Thank you for becoming part of our legacy.
50 years of legacy. The next chapter starts now.
